Terms of Use

Last updated: July 29, 2026

These terms govern access to and use of Athlnet. By creating an account, you accept them in full. Read sections 8 and 9 carefully: they describe what Athlnet is not, and what remains your responsibility when you meet other users.

1. Purpose and nature of the service

Athlnet is a platform connecting people who want to train together. It lets you create a profile, discover other athletes, exchange messages, create or join activities and groups, and share your position during an outing.

Athlnet provides a means of connecting people. Athlnet does not organise, supervise, oversee, or direct the sporting activities users arrange between themselves.

2. Eligibility

Access to Athlnet is strictly limited to natural persons aged 18 or over.

You undertake to provide accurate information, in particular your date of birth and first name, and to keep it up to date.

Any account found to have been created by a minor or using inaccurate information is suspended or deleted.

3. Account and security

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account.

An account is personal. It may not be shared, transferred, or resold.

Report any unauthorised use of your account to contact@athlnet.app without delay.

4. Rules of conduct

The following are prohibited: harassment, threats, hateful, discriminatory, or violent speech, unwanted sexual solicitation, impersonation, distribution of illegal content, publication of third parties' personal data without their consent, unsolicited commercial soliciting, and any attempt to circumvent security or moderation measures.

Using Athlnet to organise or facilitate an unlawful activity, or collecting user data through automated means, is prohibited.

Detailed rules are set out in the Community Guidelines, which form an integral part of these terms.

5. Your content

You remain the owner of the content you publish and are solely responsible for it.

You grant Athlnet a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, limited to the period necessary to provide the service, for the sole purpose of hosting, storing, reproducing, and displaying that content within the app, to the people you intend it for.

You warrant that you hold the necessary rights over the content you publish, in particular over photographs depicting third parties.

Messages you send to other users remain visible to their recipients after your account is deleted, under the conditions described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Identity verification and badge

Identity verification is optional. It consists of a visual review, carried out by a person, of an identity document and a selfie that you submit.

The badge means only that documents were submitted and underwent that visual review. It is in no way: a certification of identity, a check of document authenticity against any authority, an investigation into the person, a criminal record check, or a guarantee as to the behaviour, honesty, sporting ability, or safety of its holder.

The presence of a badge does not remove any of the precautions described in section 9. Athlnet may withdraw a badge at any time.

7. Live position sharing

Position sharing is optional and relies on your consent, obtained before activation. It runs only during an outing and can be stopped at any time.

During an outing, your position is visible to the members of the group concerned. Only enable this feature within groups whose members you know.

Athlnet guarantees neither the accuracy, nor the continuity, nor the availability of the location signal. This feature is a convenience and must never be relied upon as a safety, rescue, or emergency location device.

8. Athlnet is not an organiser of sporting activities

Activities offered on Athlnet are created, defined, and conducted by users themselves. Athlnet is not an organiser of sporting events within the meaning of Articles L. 331-1 et seq. of the French Sports Code.

Athlnet does not select participants, does not verify their level, fitness, qualifications, or certifications, supervises no session, provides no equipment, endorses no route, and provides no monitoring.

Athlnet assumes no duty of safety, supervision, or result in respect of how an activity between users unfolds.

If you supervise an activity for payment or in a professional capacity, it is your responsibility to comply with the applicable regulations, in particular the qualification and declaration requirements of the French Sports Code.

9. Your responsibility when meeting and training

You take part in activities under your sole and entire responsibility.

It is your responsibility to ensure your health allows the intended practice, seeking medical advice where needed, and to hold civil liability insurance and, where appropriate, personal accident cover.

Other users are strangers. We recommend choosing a public place for a first meeting, telling someone close to you where you are going and when you expect to return, not sharing sensitive personal information, and ending any exchange that makes you uncomfortable.

In case of immediate danger, contact the emergency services: 112 across the European Union, or 15, 17, or 18 in France.

10. Moderation, reporting, and redress

Any user can report content or behaviour from the app (Profile > Report a problem) or at contact@athlnet.app. Every report is acknowledged.

Reports are reviewed by a person. Athlnet uses no automated decision-making for moderation.

Depending on severity, Athlnet may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or delete an account. Any restrictive measure is notified to the person concerned together with its grounds.

You may contest a moderation decision by replying to the notification you received or by writing to contact@athlnet.app. Your challenge is reviewed again by a person.

These mechanisms are implemented in accordance with Articles 16 and 17 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on digital services.

11. Service availability

Athlnet is provided as is and as available. The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued, in whole or in part, for maintenance, security, or product reasons.

Athlnet takes reasonable steps to ensure continuity of service, without being able to guarantee uninterrupted availability.

12. Liability

Athlnet is liable for damage resulting from a breach of its own obligations under these terms.

Athlnet is not liable for content published by users, for how users behave towards one another, or for the consequences of meetings and activities arranged between them.

Nothing in these terms limits Athlnet's liability in cases of wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, or where the law prohibits such limitation. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

13. Suspension and account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app: Profile > Delete my account.

Athlnet may suspend or delete an account for breach of these terms or of the Community Guidelines. Except in cases of serious breach or contrary legal obligation, the measure is preceded or accompanied by reasoned information.

In cases of serious breach — in particular endangering others, manifestly illegal content, or harm to a minor — deletion may be immediate.

14. Paid services

Athlnet is currently provided free of charge. No paid offer exists to date.

Should paid offers be introduced, the applicable terms (price, duration, renewal, cancellation, right of withdrawal, consumer mediation) will be published and brought to your attention before any purchase.

15. Changes to these terms

These terms may be amended. The date of the latest update appears at the top of this page.

In the event of a substantial change, you are informed in the app and asked to accept the new version. If you prefer not to accept it, you remain free to delete your account.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law.

In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first by writing to contact@athlnet.app.

Failing agreement, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, this clause does not deprive you of the option to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.

17. Contact

For any question about these terms: contact@athlnet.app.

The identity of the publisher and of its hosting providers appears in the Legal Notice.
