Account Deletion
Last updated: July 29, 2026
This page explains how to delete your Athlnet account, what is erased, and what remains after deletion. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Delete your account from the app
In the Athlnet app: Profile > Delete my account, then confirm.
There is no grace period: deletion is immediate and irreversible.
If you no longer have access to the app
Send a request to contact@athlnet.app from the email address linked to your account, or stating the linked phone number.
Proof of identity may be requested where there is reasonable doubt about the identity of the requester, in accordance with Article 12 GDPR.
The request is handled within one month.
What is deleted
Your account and sign-in credentials.
Your profile: first name, date of birth, gender, description, sports, city and location coordinates, preferences.
Your profile photos and the map image associated with your account.
Your identity verification documents, if any remained, along with your verification status.
Your position sharing sessions and all corresponding route points.
Your saved routes and their images.
Your activity participations, group memberships, and poll votes.
What remains
Messages you sent in a conversation or group, including voice messages and shared media, remain visible to their recipients. They keep coherent the conversations other people took part in and are no longer attached to an active profile.
Summaries of group outings you took part in (distance, duration, simplified track) remain in the history of the group concerned, without being associated with an active profile there.
Reports you filed or that concerned you are kept for 3 years after closure, for safety and evidentiary purposes.
Technical and sign-in logs are kept for 12 months.
Proof of your acceptance of the terms of use and privacy policy (identifier, document, fingerprint of the accepted version, date, language) is kept for 5 years, so that the agreement reached can be established in the event of a dispute. It contains no profile data.
Some data may be kept longer where the law requires it, or for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.
If you want your messages removed before deleting your account, delete them from the app beforehand.
Backups
Deleted data may persist in the infrastructure's technical backups for up to 30 days, until they rotate out. It is neither accessed nor reused during that period.
